Conduct at Large Events: Guidelines for Public Festivals
Large public festivals require visitors to pay attention to safety rules and travel arrangements.
Large public festivals require visitors to pay attention to safety rules and travel arrangements.
IllustrationLarge public festivals regularly draw many people to fairgrounds and into tents. To ensure orderly operations, organizers and local authorities establish safety regulations in advance that must be observed by all guests.
Many festival grounds have restrictions on bags and luggage. Large backpacks and bulky bags are prohibited at the entrances, while small bags are permitted after a manual inspection. Glass bottles and sharp objects are generally not allowed on the premises.
Because of limited parking options around the grounds, arriving by public transit or on foot is recommended. Those arriving by car should use designated parking areas on the outskirts of the city.
In crowded festival tents or during congestion on connecting walkways, visitors should take note of marked emergency exit routes. Tents are temporarily closed when at full capacity until space becomes available again.
Valuables such as mobile phones and wallets should be carried close to the body in zippered interior pockets. Families with children should agree on a fixed meeting point on the grounds in case they become separated in the crowd.
