The 191st Oktoberfest in Munich ended on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026, after running for 16 days. According to initial estimates by organizers, around 7.4 million guests visited the Theresienwiese.

With this figure, the event recorded the highest attendance in its history. In 2025, 6.5 million people were counted. The previous high came in 2023 with 7.2 million guests. At that time, however, the festival lasted 18 days instead of the regular 16 days due to a holiday extension. The city of Munich called this year's event a 'Gute-Laune-Wiesn' because of mostly sunny weather.

Strong weekday attendance

Attendance rose significantly on weekdays in particular. From Monday through Thursday, organizers recorded an 18.5 percent increase in the first week and a 28.9 percent increase in the second week. The Oide Wiesn also recorded clear growth: around 447,000 visitors were registered there, up from 360,000 in 2025. That represents an increase of 24.2 percent.

Most guests traveled from Munich and the surrounding region. Among international guests, the largest groups came from the United States, Italy, and Austria.

During the 16 festival days, around 6.7 million Maß of beer were served. The lost-and-found office recorded around 4,000 items. In addition, staff confiscated around 105,000 beer mugs that visitors attempted to take from the grounds without permission. Electricity consumption on the Theresienwiese totaled around 2.65 million kilowatt-hours, while 92 metric tons of trash were hauled away.
